MEET DR. MARIE Y. LEMELLE, MBA

Southern California native Dr. Marie Y. Lemelle, MBA, wears many hats: film producer, social change activist, global entrepreneur, visionary, award-winning journalist, and celebrity public relations consultant. She champions her philosophy, “Transform Goals to Greatness,” through her branding, marketing, and PR expertise as the CEO and founder of the certified minority woman-owned Platinum Star Public Relations, Inc. 

Dr. Lemelle has spearheaded international red carpet events, golf tournaments, concerts, PPV boxing shows, film festivals, and award shows to advance diversity and inclusion for communities and beyond through her business, Platinum Star Media Group, Inc., a film production and talent management company.

As a motivational speaker, instructor, and mentor, Dr. Lemelle is a catalyst for change. Her commitment to health education and empowerment is not just evident in her role as a health columnist and book author, but also in her dedication to using her media platform to educate vulnerable populations about health. Her upcoming motivational health book, 'I am Not My Illness: Personal Stories of Inspiration and Hope,' is a testament to her dedication to making a difference and helping others know they are not alone. Her humanitarian projects extend beyond charitable giving, as she creates economic opportunities, provides stability, and empowers women to build their businesses. 

Dr. Lemelle’s yearly donations to Sole 4 Souls generated more than $65,000 of economic impact. These donations provide a lifeline to families worldwide, ensuring consistent access to necessities like food, housing, and education. Dr. Lemelle’s civic duty was evidenced when she served as the City of Glendale Commissioner for the Commission on the Status of Women. 

Dr. Lemelle is a creative force, serving on the advisory board for the YWCA Glendale-Pasadena and advocating for ending racism and violence against women and girls. As a screenwriter and playwright, she weaves culturally relevant stories. Her award-winning stage play, 'Harambee! Harambee! (All Pull Together),' which focuses on unveiling the hidden truth about Black and Brown history, is commissioned and produced annually by the prestigious Robey Theatre Company, founded by Ben Guillory and veteran Award-winning Actor Danny Glover. Her creative work is a testament to her diverse talents and contributions. 

She is a 2023 honoree of the Cultural Inclusion Foundation and the recipient of several honors and awards, a testament to her creativity, talent, and the impact of her work in the arts. She earned an MBA from the University of La Verne and received an honorary doctorate in Humanities from Triumphant Christian University of America.
